DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

City of Ithaca DPW Laborer, Full-Time Positions: General labor in street system, water and sewer systems, parks and cemetery, public grounds, and equipment repair. CDL B certificate required or willingness and ability to obtain within 30 days upon hire. This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Starting wage is $19.45 per hour (then a substantial step increase upon reaching one year anniversary). Also includes a generous benefit package, additional compensation for employees that have or obtain a S-3 Water or a L-1 Wastewater Operator License, potential assistance with obtaining a CDL-B license and supportive work environment.

City of Ithaca –Seasonal Laborer Positions –Department of Public Works:

Seasonal Position: Performs general labor duties including mowing, leaf collection and general maintenance for the Public Works, Water, Sewer and Parks departments. Starting wage is $14.00 per hour with an average of 40 hours per week. Position requires applicants to work with others and independently in indoor and outdoor environments.

Seasonal Specialist Position: Assists the Water/Sewer Superintendent with special water and sewer projects, including lead/copper waterline replacements. Position will also perform general labor duties including mowing, leaf collection and general maintenance for the Public Works, Water, Sewer and Parks departments. Starting wage is $18.00 per hour, with an average of 40 hours per week. Position requires applicants to work with others and independently in indoor and outdoor environments.
