| A recent lottery scam has been brought to the attention of the Ithaca Police Department.
Recipients receive a letter informing them of being a winner in the Mega Lottery conducted in the UK. A check is enclosed with the letter indicating that it is for the purpose of paying government taxes. Do not attempt cash this check or call the phone number listed - this is a scam. If you have received a copy of this letter, please go to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at: www.ic3.gov to file a complaint. This center is an alliance between the National White Collar Crime Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. |
