Edie Hunter is the Assessor of the City of Ithaca.  She is responsible for identifying, listing and valuing all taxable real and personal property in the City, in accordance with the General Property Tax Act and the City Charter.  She is also responsible for processing all the recorded documents for properties in the City Limits and determining transfers of ownership, Principle Residence Exemptions and correct mail-to information.
The office hours for the Assessor are Tuesday & Wednesday from 8:00am until 4:30pm.  Appointments may be made, however are not necessary.

Online Assessment & Tax Data Access


You can access your current tax and assessing information through BS&A Software.  Information on your own property can be accessed at no charge, but a $2.00 fee applies to additional properties.   You can also pay your taxes online through the same portal with a credit or debit card for a convenience fee of 3% with a minimum $2.00 or by E-Check for a $3.00 fee for bills up to $10,000 and $10.00 for $10,000 and over.   To search or pay, please follow this link:


2020 Personal Property Statements will be mailed by January 10th.  As a reminder the following are critical dates for filing the various forms with the City of Ithaca Assessors Office:

Form 5076 Affidavit to Claim Small Business Tax Exemption under MCL 211.9o must be received or postmarked by February 20, 2020

Form L-4175 2020 Personal Property Statement is due by February 20, 2020.  Postmark is acceptable.

Form 5278 Eligible Manufacturing Personal Property (EMPP) must be received no later than February 20, 2020. Postmark and late filing cannot be accepted.


Form 5076: Affidavit of Owner of Eligible Personal Property Claiming Exemption from Collection of Taxes (As of 12-31-2018)

Important Property Tax Dates
Summer Taxes are mailed out on August 1st and are due on September 30th without penalty.
Winter Taxes are mailed out on December 1st and are due on February 14th without penalty.
Both Summer and Winter taxes can be paid at City Hall through the last day of February.
Payment may be made in person, by mail, through your bank's on-line services or after hours drop box with cash, check or money order. Debit cards, Credit cards and credit card checks are not accepted at this time.
As of March 1st, any unpaid taxes are considered delinquent and turned over to the Gratiot County Treasurer for collection.
Contact the County Treasurer after March 1st at 875-5220 for the correct amount due.
